Central Library at Weitz is Now Open!

The transformation of the Goldschleger Life Sciences and Chemistry Library into the Central Library at Weitz is almost complete.

The new Central Library at Weitz is now available for use.

The Weitz building has:

  • A great location – right next to Charlie’s.  Come to eat and stay to study or research! (MAP)
  • Marina and Olga, plus almost all of the Library staff
  • 8 study rooms, ranging in size from 4 seats to 8 seats (some rooms already have white boards and large screens for your use)
  • Computer stations for visitors who don’t bring their laptops
  • A variety of comfortable chairs!
  • The Life Sciences and Chemistry book collections and a large part of the former Physics Library book collection
  • Course and reserved books
  • Reference books
  • The Haber, Einstein, Rare Book, and History of Science Special Collections (in process)
  • No print journals

The map below shows study room and staff office locations.

The last stages of the move will be completed over the next week, so, just like in Goldschleger, there will be extra noise in Weitz.  We are trying to limit the disturbances to the mornings.

The Goldschleger Library Renovation projected dates are (subject to change):

  • 27 Jan 2019 – Oct 2019:  Goldschleger building closed and undergoing renovation.  The Weitz building functioning as the new Central Library.
  • Nov 2019:  Goldschleger building will reopen with quiet study rooms and public meeting areas.  Most library books and staff will remain in the Weitz building until further notice.

We look forward to making additional improvements and rolling out some new services during the next few months.

Thank you for your patience.  If you have questions about Library services, please contact us.
