📘 VLeBooks – User Guide for Medical Students
Welcome to your eBook access guide. Here’s everything you need to know about using VLeBooks at our Institute.

You do not need a personal account – access is automatic through the library network or EZproxy.
👤 Personal Accounts (Optional but Recommended)
🎯 Why create a personal account?
Creating a personal account ensures that
your notes, highlights, and bookmarks are saved and available every time you borrow the book again.
Without a personal account, any notes or highlights you make will only last for your current reading session.
- Access the book: Use this link:

- Go to “My Account”: At the top-right corner of the screen, click My Account.
- Create or log in: If you already have a personal account, sign in. Otherwise, click Create Account or Register and set up your profile with your email and password.
- Use your Bookshelf: Add books to My Bookshelf. Your notes and highlights will be tied to your profile.
- Return to your notes: Each time you log in, your saved notes will reappear. You can also export or share them if needed.
❗ Important: Always sign in with your personal account before reading if you want your annotations to be saved.
📖 Reading Options
✅ Full Download (Recommended)
- Download the entire book for offline use.
- The library provides the maximum loan period allowed by the system.
- At the end of the loan, the file expires – you can borrow/download it again if needed.
- ❗ Downloading is only available via Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).
- Best option if you need the book throughout the semester.
🌐 Online Reading
- Open the book directly in your browser (internet required).
- A seat is only “held” while the book is open.
- If there is no activity for 2 hours, the session times out and the seat is released.
- Once you close the book (or time out), the seat is freed for others.
- Best for quick reference or short reading sessions.
📥 Software for Full Download
- 💻 Computer (Windows/Mac): Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)
- 📱 Mobile/Tablet (optional): Adobe Digital Editions app is available for iOS/Android. Functionality may vary; for the most reliable experience, we recommend Windows/Mac.
- ❗ Full Download works ONLY with Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).
📌 Best Practice for Students
- If you need the book for the whole semester → use Full Download.
- If you only need quick access → use Online Reading.
- Don’t leave the book open unnecessarily – sessions end after 2 hours of inactivity.
- Always close the book when finished so others can access it.
🚦 If You See “All Copies Are in Use”
Our library has a limited number of licences (“seats”) for each eBook.
- If all seats are taken, you’ll see this message.
- Try again later – seats free up as soon as someone closes the book, times out, or their download loan expires.
- If your course requires constant access, prefer Full Download so you’re not blocked.
📚 Print Copies
In addition to eBooks, we also have print copies available:
- At the Main Library
- At the Medical School Library
Ask at the desk or check the catalogue to borrow.
